MORE than 1500 cyclists are currently setting off from Oriel-Y-Parc, St Davids, for the annual Tour of Pembrokeshire.
The first entrants set off at 7am this morning with the latest starters expected to leave at about 9am.
Cyclists have already chosen one of the three designated routes – 50 miles, 75 miles or 100 miles, and will be able to stop regularly at food stations along the way.
Hundreds of volunteers will assist at different points throughout the day – including members of the Haverfordwest Rotary Club, Fishguard Cardigan RNLI, Poppit Sands RNLI, Fishguard Round Table and Wales Air Ambulance.
Organiser Peter Walker said he was delighted with how the day had started: “There is a brilliant atmosphere here,” said Walker.
“We have riders who have come from Belgium, France, Ireland, Scotland, as well as a strong local contingent.
“It’s going to be a good day.”
However, cyclists can expect some challenging conditions, with inclement weather predicted to last throughout the day.
