SATURDAY'S competition played in glorious sunny conditions was the Pro's Tray. The winner goes forward to play with the Club Professional Matthew Hearne in a pro am event sponsored by Lombard; Matthew kindly provided the prizes for the winners.
The winner with a very special score of 65 nett was Wyn Lewis. This was a tremendous effort by him on a course which took no prisoners. This was reflected in the course standard scratch of 72.

A number of players had a handicap reduction as a result of their efforts and most noticeably Wyn Lewis who will now play off 15. The other reductions were Stephen Warlow 22-21, Nigel Roberts 24-23, Spike Anderson 17-16, Andrew Arnold 4-3 and Craig Eva 12-11
The competition was counting for Brian Bebb points. The current leaders are Liam Eva, Shaun Dyson and Tom Hughes with 25 points closely followed by Andrew Arnold and Josh Lewis on 23.
Next week's competition is the Colin Davies Scratch Shield and Neyland Golf Society Trophy where there are prizes for both gross and nett scores.
Rabbits and Tigers
GOOD win for the Tigers on Sunday, they won nine-nil at home against Ashburnham. Best win of the day was Ian Randall and Callum Day winning 7 & 5. Post-match meal was a top Sunday Lunch in Greens Restaurant.
Rabbits fought well but unfortunately ended a fine day’s golf losing 4-3 at home to Glynhir, who were last year’s champions.
THE seniors’ section as Owain Picton who usually writes this bit has had to go into hospital, the Mercury and club members wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the course soon.
Thirty seven turned out on a glorious Thursday afternoon to play for Colin Reynolds Points. There were some impressive scores, but only one player managed a two, Chris Naylor took home the £37 pot.

Senior Fixtures for May
Thursday, 22 - the senior section will entertain Glynn Abbey golf club seniors in their annual match teeing off at noon.
Tuesday, 27 - the seniors will hold their weekly stableford competition with first draw at 11.15am after the ladies section has teed off.
Thursday, 29 - the senior section will entertain Glynn Abbey Golf Club seniors in their annual match teeing off at noon.
LAST Tuesday, only seven ladies played in their weekly tournament (due to some of our ladies enjoying a golfing soiree in Portugal) but everyone enjoyed getting together and the winner was Eileen Davies with 33 points. The runner-up was the Lady Captain Pat Evans with 32 points, winning on the back nine from Margaret Hicks. There were no twos recorded again so the kitty is getting larger.
Last Saturday, was Lady President's Day (Denise Kimber). Denise was blessed with a glorious sunny day and perfect golf conditions to hold her special day. There were 22 ladies who played and everyone had a very enjoyable day. A meal followed the tournament in Greens Restaurant which all the ladies enjoyed, followed by presentations by the Lady President.

The juniors were also out in force on Saturday playing for the D R Griffiths Cup, which is a medal event. The winner was junior captain Callum Day with an outstanding nett score of 64, followed by Josh Lewis with a nett 66.
Best wishes were extended to young Hollie Jenkins who was competing in a Pembs/Carms Girls event at Derllys Court Golf Course.

IT was with great sadness that the club received the news this week that long time member Gordon Wright passed away last Thursday. The Committee extend deepest sympathy to his family and friends on behalf of the members.
