NEYLAND and District Sea Angling Club held a species match at the weekend.

It was a rover where members can travel to various lactations around the Pembrokeshire coast, where they try to catch as many different species, at the weigh-in there was a tie for first place with two members each catching six species. They were husband and wife team Brandon and Claire Hall, their catches included, ballon wrasse, dog, corkwing, blenny scorpion, sucking loach, to find out an outright winner, catches are weighed, and it was Claire who came out on top with a weight of 4lbs 7ozs compared to Brandon’s 4lbs 4ozs.

In third place was club’s president Bob South with four species, his bag included a fine pollock weighing 2lbs 6ozs, this was enough to win him the pool for the heaviest fish.

The next match is at July 27 at Neyland, fishing 5-9pm. Book in at 4.15pm at the Quay car park.

The club thanks adjudicators Bernie Davies, Bob South and George Hawkridge.
