MILFORD Haven squash coach Pete Crook was presented with an award at the Wales Squash and Racket Ball award ceremony held in Cardiff.

It came as a surprise but the award was thoroughly deserved.

Crook coaches at Milford Haven Leisure Centre, and was awarded Wales Squash volunteer coach of the year for his work within Pembrokeshire, quite an achievement considering he has been coaching less than three years.

He started coaching due to the decline in squash within the county, the Milford Haven club now has 28 juniors on the books, with young Keeron John seeded in the top five in Wales at under-13 level, and for the first time in the club’s history they will be entering a junior team into the adult league

Crook also coaches in Haverfordwest, and he has also given over 300 children from local schools the opportunity to have a go at squash both at the club and within the schools.

He regularly coaches the county based Welsh internationals and is also a qualified racketball and athletics coach as well as a fitness instructor.
