PEMBROKESHIRE squash players have had one of their best ever years and at the annual Wales Squash and Racket Ball award ceremony held at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff.

Joel Makin, formerly from Pembrokeshire, joined the Welsh Commonwealth team who competed in Glasgow.

Pembrokeshire based players Nick Dyer, Chris Barker and Julian Griffiths were presented with Welsh Masters caps.

Nick Dyer, a squash coach himself, plays for both Haverfordwest in the Pembrokeshire league and Swansea in the Welsh Premier league.

Nick represented Wales in the over 40s in Aberdeen this year, and also crowned the Brouse Welsh Open Masters Championship over-40s champion.

Julian Griffiths, plays for both Fishguard in the Pembrokeshire League and for Tivy in the South Wales league, he represented Wales in the over-50s in Ireland this year.

Chris Barker, also a squash coach plays for both Pembroke in the Pembrokeshire League and will be joining the Milford Haven team in the South Wales league, Chris represented Wales in the over-60s again in Aberdeen this year.

James Walters plays for Milford Haven in the Pembrokeshire League and Swansea in the Welsh Premier league; he missed out on representing his country due to illness, but won the Brouse Welsh Open Masters Championship overs-45.
