Cardiff Met 2

Haverfordwest County 0

THE Bluebirds had a disappointing afternoon on which the Cardiff students usually had the better of play on their 3G Cyncoed pitch.

The first goal came in the 32nd minute when some lax defending out on the Blues’ right allowed the Met to square a ball into the middle where the finish was applied by Tenby boy Elliot Scotcher.

Manager Wayne Jones shuffled his pack going into the second half and brought on Declan Carroll, moving to a 3-4-3 formation. But this was not enough to dent the Met defence and Scotcher was able to notch his second when his free kick sneaked through a badly-assembled defensive wall.

There was a real Blues rally at the end and a feature of this spell was a promising display from sub striker Steffan Davies, newly signed from Bow Street in the Mid-Wales League. But the Blues were not quite able to pull back the two goals they needed.

County: Craig Morris; Ricky Watts, Spencer Williams, Sam Rodon, Dale Griffiths, Sean Pemberton (Steffan Davies, 70), Jack Britton (Declan Carroll, 45), Chris O’Sullivan (Greg Walters, 72), Nicky Palmer, Jordan Follows, Luke Borelli.
