Roll-up Saturday

There were 14 players who played in the role-up played last Saturday. The winner was Brian Morgans with 41 pts, Richard Brock was second with 39 pts, There was only one two worth £14 which went to Frank Rimmer.

Winter League

On Week 3 of the Winter League all 52 players took part on Saturday. It was a lovely sunny day with a slight easterly breeze. The course was in excellent condition, all thanks to the greens staff.

Ladies

LAST Tuesday, there were a total of 12 ladies playing in their weekly tournament in lovely weather conditions for the time of year. Some varying scores were posted as the course is certainly playing differently to a month ago and challenging. The winner was Pearl Slate with a score of 34 points and the runner-up was Barbara Phillips with 33 points. Jackie Skelorn on Hole #8 and Barbara Phillips on Hole #10 shared the twos kitty.

Next Tuesday, the ladies will play the annual Joan Gale nine-hole Christmas competition which will be followed by presentation and mince pies in the clubhouse a fun day and near end to their golfing year.

Seniors

LAST Thursday, 32 seniors took part in the second turkey trot non counting stableford competition of the winter. The course was wet under foot again; with the greens in excellent condition for the time of year.

The winner with 42 points was John (Sandy) Sanderson with Brian Morgans with 40 points in runners-up spot and Rolly Council in third place with 39 points. Sandy received a meat voucher of £15; with Brian getting a voucher for £10 with 3rd place Rolly a £5 voucher. In the next Turkey trot Sandy will have two stableford points deducted from his final score with Brian and Rolly having one point each deducted.

Six players shared the twos kitty: Rolly Council x 2Hole 6 and hole 16; Tony Davey 4th Hole; Tony Goodridge hole 8; Jackie Jenkins; John Sanderson and Dick Wooding senior ( who celebrated his 88th birthday on Tuesday just gone) all on the 16th hole.

On Tuesday 25th November another large turnout of thirty four players played in a stableford competition on a dry day with the course wet under foot but dry enough for the use of buggies; once again the greens were in excellent condition for the time of year.

The winner of the competition was Mike Durward with 39 points.

In twos competition the kitty was shared between Russell James and Mike Ballentine.

Seniors Stableford turkey trots will be played on the following Thursday December; 4; 11 and 18 first draw will be at 10.30am.

Tuesday’s stableford competitions first draw after the ladies section has vacated the first tee at 11.15am.

The seniors’ AGM will be held on (today) Thursday, December 4 after the Turkey trot.

The following Thursday, December 11 the seniors will be holding their annual Christmas dinner and presentation; golf will be played in the morning starting at 10.30am (timed starts).

200 Club

This Month’s winners are; £50 number 36 Mr R Andrews, £30 number 179 Mr M. P. Williams, and £20 number 12 Mrs I Lincoln.

Juniors

Calum Day and Abe Forsyth won the Matchplay challenge on November 22, and Abe again won on Saturday 29, this time partnered by Thomas Wood. Abe therefore has taken an early lead in the Winter Matchplay league.

On November 22 Jayden Morgan won the 7 hole competition, narrowly beating Bobby Jenkins on count-back. Both boys’ handicaps are reduced to 43 due to their good scores.

The seven-hole competition on November 29 was won by Josh Hutchings, who will find out his new handicap this weekend.

There was a good turnout for the Mini Golf on the 29, with some excellent scores. Maisie Lloyd came third with a sub 30 score for the six-holes; Olly Vaughan-Harries was runner-up, narrowly beaten by brother Sammy who hit every tee shot at the flag. With one week left of the mini golf winter league, it looks like a shoot out between Olly, Sammy and Tommy.

Hollie Jenkins, Holly Howells and Rosie Rhead attended a South Wales Girls Golf Gig in Carmarthen on Sunday 30 - and will report back on it next week.

Wednesday, December 31: New Year’s Eve Party ticket event open to all in conjunction with The Greens Restaurant price includes gala buffet, live singer, and celebration bubbly at midnight, and transport home and costs £32 per head.
