Hakin United 9

Monkton Swifts 1

HAKIN United thrashed poor Monkton Swifts and moved a giant step closer to retaining their third league title on the trot.

As the score line suggests this clash was completely one-way traffic for Gary Dawes’ Vikings.

This result saw the Swifts drop to second from bottom, but ironically it was the visitors who took the lead in this tussle as Jordan Kilby struck from inside the box.

However, the Vikings then controlled matters as they led 5-1 at half-time. Nicky Woodrow struck a superb hat-trick in a 20 minutes purple patch also Ben Aldred and Justin Harding scored in the first period.

After the break, Harding added two further goals to secure his excellent treble, Woodrow bagged his fourth of the match and Steve Mathias added the ninth with a vicious strike from distance to complete the rout.

This Saturday, the Vikings travel over the Cleddau Bridge to face Pennar Robins, earlier in the season the Robins beat the champions on penalties, dumping them out of the first round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup at Bush Camp.

Mark Powell's Swifts outfit have a difficult trip to Tenby this Saturday, and will be looking to secure any points to get out of the drop zone.
