WHITLAND Ladies RFC will travel to Penybanc tomorrow (Good Friday) to contest the Newsquest Cup.
The idea for the trophy was put in place by highly regarded photographer Ian Williams, of Riley Sports Photography.
He approached two Newsquest papers that cover the teams involved, the Western Telegraph (Whitland) and South Wales Guardian (Penybanc), who in turn agreed to jointly sponsor a team and player of the match trophy.
The game, that kicks off at 3pm, will also double up as Super Cup match – with the unbeaten Borderettes currently leading Pool A after securing bonus point win in their first four matches.
It is hoped the Newsquest Cup match will become an annual fixture between the pair.
