Wiseman’s Bridge Rowing Club has enjoyed the busiest and most successful season in its 21-year existence.

The club, which has over 60 members, aged from 14 to 66, can boast some impressive statistics from 2014.

There were 24 events attended around Europe, and 52 races entered resulting in 21 trophies and over 700 miles of racing - not to mention the hundreds of training miles.

The ladies crew, which missed winning the Welsh league by an oar’s length, took London by storm to smash the Great River Race record for a ladies Celtic crew and bring home the prestigious trophy. The club successful completed the legendary Celtic Challenge rowing event from Arklow to Aberystwyth, raising £2,000 for the RNLI in the process, and also finished third in the highly-competitive Welsh Sea Rowing Association league.

There was also a fifth place finish in the men’s final of the European fixed seat championships in Italy.

With the blisters of the 2014 season only just healed, the Wise guys and the Wise birds are now getting ready for the return of rowing from the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn.

The club is also looking to be the first sea rowing club to be involved with the new Pembrokeshire County Council sport project, Insport, in association with Disability Sport Wales, to offer rowing to young adults with disabilities.
