NEW Rosemarket Golf Club seniors captain Colin Rogers received his captain’s blazer from out-going captain Bob Stokoe before the seniors’ programme for the 2015/2016 season got under way.

Twenty members turned out for this first competition of the year the John and Carol Smith Greensomes Trophy. The clear winners were John C Davies and Ron Nash with a score of 71. A count-back was necessary to separate the next two pairs and this resulted in second place being awarded to John McLean and Bill Wilson and third place to Kenny Davies and Tony Deakin, both with scores of 73. During the competition Dan Scale and Barrie Yelland holed out in 2 on arguably the hardest par-3 on the course, the 13th. There is a full and varied programme for the rest of the year with weekly competitions, singles and doubles knock-outs and a matchplay league to tempt both old and new members. Members played the monthly stableford on Saturday winning with 37pts was Liam Ellis, runner up Chris Hine 33pts, third Martin Reynolds 32pts, fourth Peter Morgan 31pts, fifth Bryn Lewis beating dale Hawkins on count back with 30pts. Twos winners were hole 7 Dale Hawkins, hole 9 and 16 Chris Llewellyn, hole 16 Kevin Holmes. Ladies winner was Amber Deakin 30pts, runner up Jayne Morgan 29pts, third Alison McCormack 24pts. Sunday's Individual Medal winner with a nett 73 was Julian Evans, runner up Adam Rogers nett 74, third Harley Holmes nett 77, fourth Amber Deakin beating Alison McCormack on count back with a nett 80. Ladies back nine stableford winner was Sarah Browning 15pts, runner up Kate Waldies 14pts, third Marilyn Rawlings 12pts, fourth Rose Taylor beating Sue and Jean Bradford on count back. Ladies front nine stableford winner was Marilyn Rawlings 14pts, runner up Jayne Mon 12pts, third Debbie Thomas beating Rose Taylor on count back, fifth Pat Gerson beating Jean Bradford on count back.
