Juniors

YET again an excellent turnout for the Junior 18 hole competition, which was the CEF Shield. Jake Houston had a good day coming third and losing a shot on his handicap, and young Bobby Jenkins scored what looked like a winning 40 points, losing a shot from his handicap as well as achieving second place. But a superb 41 points by Ben Fawcett took the top prize and also saw his handicap reduced to 19 at the same time. On the mini golf course another good turnout keeps pushing the standards up each week, and Osian Millichip recorded an early score of 28 shots which looked like a winning score, but sister Maisie beat this score by one shot and the 'in form' Liam Williams' then posted an unbeatable score of 23 to win back-to-back competitions and also show that it's going to take something special to take first place from him this summer. Fifteen players competed for the D&R Griffiths Cup, and it was quite apt that Milford's youngest ever female competitor in a club event Hollie Jenkins came third with an excellent 37 points. In form Ben Fawcett looked to have taken a second victory in a row with 43 points and a handicap reduction to 16, but Thomas Wood returned to form at the right time and recorded 43 points (gross 72) to pip Ben on the back nine. The Milford Junior Open takes place this Friday
