SAUNDERSFOOT cricketer Phil Jones has been banned for ten years, three of them suspended, following the abandoned Division Two game between his side and Kilgetty on Saturday, July 25.

The Western Telegraph also understands that two of his teammates, Stephen Cook and Neil Powling, received two week and one week bans respectively.

Kilgetty players Toby Poole and Jack Parkinson are said to have both been banned for the remainder of the 2015 season for their roles in the incident.

Both sides are to have the 12 points they were awarded on the day removed, and will begin on minus 30 points for the 2016 league season.

However, all parties involved have been given the right to appeal, with the Pembroke County Cricket Club set to hear any individual or team appeals against the sanctions tonight (Monday).

Jones, 46, took to his Facebook page last week to thank people for their support, adding that he would accept the County Club’s decision.

The authority has confirmed the full details of the disciplinary measures will be made public once the appeal date has passed.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed to the Western Telegraph on Monday that they had not received any formal complaints about the incident, and that no criminal investigation was taking place.
