THE Vine Inn at Johnson held a charity golf day at Rosemarket Golf Club last Friday with all proceeds in aid of breast cancer.

The organiser was Dai Goodridge who got play off at midday. Format for the day was pairs Texas Scramble. The early starters had the best of the weather with wet conditions ending the day. A couple of teams failed to finish. After play there was a raffle and presentation at The Vine. Before handing out the prizes Dai thanked Ally and Jill Evans for organising a pig roast for customers and players alike in a packed venue. Elma Goodridge presented the landlady Jill with a bouquet of flowers kindly donated by Robertsons Nursery, Milford Haven. Dai thanked the main sponsor of the day Gareth Hughes Motors Sardis, Tru-Plas, Johnston and all other sponsors that contributed to the successful day. Dai also thanked Danny and Tracey Young and Laura, Luke, Alex at Rosemarket Golf Club and Billy Young for the photography. With plenty of great prizes to be won Elma and Janet made a huge success of the raffle. Before announcing the amount raised Dai thanked all players for taking part. Dai announced that they had raised £2120 which was met with rapturous applause. Runners up winning a 4 ball golf day sponsored by Haverfordwest GC were Adam Rogers and Harley Holmes gross 72 nett 66.2. Third winning a 4 ball golf day sponsored by South Pembs GC were Mark McCormack and Alex Young gross 76 nett 68. Fourth 4 family tickets for Oakwood sponsored by Oakwood Theme Park were Geraint Hughes and Adam Reynolds gross 73 nett 68.5. Nearest the pin winning a bottle of whisky sponsored by Dai and Elma Goodridge was Mark McCormack. Nearest the line winning a bottle of whisky sponsored by Ally and Jill Evans Vine Inn was Mark Griffiths. Congratulations to Dai and Elma Goodridge and all sponsors and everyone who helped make it such a successful day.

Members played in the Two Day Stableford competition at the weekend. Luke Young led on day one with 38pts beating Adam Rogers on count back, third was Alex James on 37pts, fourth Tom Strand with 36pts beating Adam Reynolds on count back. Onto day two and although Alex Young scored the highest total of 38pts it wasn't sufficient to get him into the top 5 overall. Scoring 36pts on Sunday to go with his 38pts and the overall winner with 74pts was Luke Young. Runner up Dave Pink combined score of 71pts beating Des Potter and Alex James on count back, fifth was Adam Rogers 69pts.
