Ashley James is the youngest of the talented sporting family which sees dad Steve as chairman of Haverfordwest Cricket Club and playing alongside sons Julian and Adam in the summer sport.
Ashley is a talented young sportsman in his own right but he added another string to his bow (or should it be line?) when he went out fishing with his father to Conger Rock at St Davids Head and landed a 4lb lobster.
Father and son regularly go fishing together and 12-year-old Ashley often outshines Steve in terms of fish caught but on this occasion it seemed that James Snr was in charge as he had landed three fish to Ashley's empty keep net and they decided to call it a day at 8pm.
Ashley decided to try one more cast and when he received a bite it was so strong that he thought he must have his hook caught in some kelp, but battled gamely on and when he finally reeled in his line it was to see the giant lobster, all two feet of it, neatly caught by its huge claw.
Back home he was advised by keen fisherman Ronnie Arthur, who represented Wales as an angler, that he might receive up to £40 for his catch but the James boys are also known for their eating prowess and after receiving cooking advice from Mr Arthur they were joined by mum Kenna in a fantastic lobster salad which was all down to Ashley's angling prowess.
