LIVERPOOL have reportedly rejected an enquiry from Swansea City about re-signing their former midfielder Joe Allen on loan.

Allen, 25, has 18 months remaining on the contract he signed when he left the Swans to join Liverpool in a £15m deal in August 2012.

The former Ysgol Y Preseli and Pembrokeshire College student made 127 appearances for the Swans after joining in 2007, but his time at Anfield has been hampered by injury, and he has started only one Premier League game since Jurgen Klopp was appointed manager in October.

After coming on as a substitute and scoring a late equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal last week, just his third Premier League goal for the Reds, he failed to get off the bench in Sunday's home defeat to Manchester United.

However, he made a scoring return to the side for last night's 3-0 home win over Exeter in the FA Cup third round replay.

And Liverpool, who remain in three cup competitions, have said they are not prepared to let Allen go, in light of the current injury crisis faced by Klopp and his squad.
