Chris O’Sullivan has been appointed as part of the management staff at Haverfordwest County FC.

Last week manager Wayne Jones left the Bluebirds to join Welsh Premier Aberystwyth Town, and the Bluebirds have moved swiftly to appoint O’Sullivan this week to work alongside existing coaches Sean Cresser and Micky Ellis as they tackle life back in Welsh League Division One next season.

Haverfordwest County released a statement on their website stating: “Haverfordwest County are delighted to announce that former Bluebirds stalwart, midfielder Chris O'Sullivan has returned to the Conygar Bridge Meadow in a management role.

“Chris has extensive footballing experience having played both professionally and semi-professionally. He left the Bluebirds at the end of the 2014/15 season after many years at the club.

“For 2015/16 he joined Nigel Delaney on the management team at Goodwick United and together they guided the Pembrokeshire League side through a hugely successful, multiple trophy winning season.

“Chris joins the existing Bluebirds’ management team of Sean Cresser and Micky Ellis after former manager Wayne Jones left the club to join Aberystwyth Town.

“This season, the Bluebirds will be targeting success in Welsh League 1 after relegation from the Welsh Premier League and believe that Sully's appointment will give them every opportunity to help move the club forward.

“Haverfordwest County would like to thank Goodwick United for allowing them to speak with Chris about the possibility of a return to the Conygar Bridge Meadow.”

O’Sullivan speaking to Telegraph Sport spoke about his excitement at joining the Bluebirds.

“I’m really grateful to David (Hughes) for giving me this opportunity to coach with the club.

“I played for them (Bluebirds) for ten seasons, but it was still a hard decision to leave my home town club Goodwick United who has just won an historical treble.

“I will aim along with Sean and Micky to get Haverfordwest County back to the Welsh Premier.

“I’m going to work hard and give it my best shot, it won’t be easy but winning anything isn’t handed to anyone on a plate. You have to work hard to reap the awards, but I will leave no stone unturned.”
