DR Morris Cup quarter final:

Neyland (103-4) beat Haverfordwest (102 all out)

HOLDERS Neyland marched into the semi-final after easily brushing aside Haverfordwest by six wickets at home on Tuesday night.

The Town won the toss and batted first, Simon Holliday (34, seven fours) and Gareth Davies (28, three boundaries) were skittled out for 102, thanks to the accurate bowling of Neyland’s Nick Koomen (3-17), Henry Durrant (3-28), Nathan Banner (1-24) and Gary Lloyd (2-16).

In reply, Neyland got off to a poor start as they were struggling on 6-2, with openers Patrick Bellerby and Koomen, both out for ducks.

Ashley Sutton rode his luck when he was dropped early by Kieran O’Connor, but he made amends to score a quick-fire (36, four boundaries and two big sixes), and was joined by Nathan Banner (34, three fours and a six) the pair putting Neyland in the driving seat.

Then it was left to the reliable Miller brothers, Andrew (18no) and Gregg (10no, included a six), who guided Neyland to a comfortable win in 17.3 overs.

Neyland are still on course for their fourth successive DR Morris final appearance, having won the last three finals against Llangwm, Haverfordwest and Cresselly.
