A FORMER Pembrokeshire man will be going through the pain barrier for local causes this weekend – from the other side of the world!

Edward Morris, 36, was born in Withybush Hospital and attended Hayscastle Primary School and Sir Thomas Picton Secondary School – but moved to Sydney, Australia, in 2012.

And in temperatures a far cry from Wales right now, this weekend he will endeavour to complete a full triathlon for charity.

He will be competing in memory of his father, Peter Morris, who died in 2009 of motor neurone disease, aged 69.

Peter, who farmed in Hayscastle and lived in Pembrokeshire all of his life, was well known in local circles as a past President of the Rotary Club in Haverfordwest and also played cricket for Letterston CC.

Sadly, he died of motor neurone disease and as a result, Ed has been fundraising for the Paul Sartori Foundation, and under the banner Tri4MND, has held special events and gained sponsorship for a cause close to his heart.

“What I'm looking to do is gain some exposure in Wales firstly for Paul Satori, who supported my Dad and family tremendously through his horrible illness - and tell his story to raise awareness of motor neurone disease,” Ed told Telegraph Sport.

“I’m trying to do this using the backdrop of my triathlon journey from being a boy in Pembrokeshire to competing in a race in New South Wales.”
