WALES have named their squad for the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in Dublin on Wednesday, August 9th.

And it includes the Pembrokeshire [airing of Jasmine Joyce and Lleucu George.

Joyce, 21, is already well known in World rugby circles after representing Team GB 7s side in the 2016 Rio Olympics - and the flying Bristol Ladies winger debuted for ehr country in the 15-a-side code during last season's Six Nations.

And it's been some month for the former Ysgol Dewi Sant pupil, who only last week helped ensure the Wales 7s side gained automatic qualification for the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia, in 2018.

George meanwhile, 17, is herself currently out in the Bahamas representing Wales 7s in the Commonwealth Youth Games, and the Pembrokeshire College flanker is now likely to cap a fairytale season by winning her first senior cap in Ireland this summer.

"Lleucu's inclusion highlights the value of our warm-up matches," said head coach Rowland Phillips, who admits selection was also determined with an eye on the 2021 Women's Rugby World Cup.

"She was outstanding in the development game against Japan, and showed some natural qualities that we are trying to develop."

Remarkably, Lleucu still plays for Whitland Ladies RFC Under 18s, and senior Borederette player Sioned Harries has also been named for what will be her third World Cup appearance.
