THERE would have been few more memorable days in the rugby career of Lleucu George yesterday - as the 17-year-old was not only called up to the Wales Women's 2017 Rugby World Cup squad - but then bagged a Commonwealth Youth Games bronze medal.

Early in the day, the 17-year-old Whitland Ladies star learnt she was named in Rowland Phillips' squad for the World Cup in Ireland in August, see here.

And then yesterday afternoon, she was part of the Wales 7s side that won their bronze medal play off match against Fiji, prevailing 19-14 and in the process, becoming the first eve Welsh national rugby side to win a medal at a Commonwealth Youth or Senior games.

It caps a meteoric rise for flanker Lleucu, currently a key member of the Scarlets Under 18s squad.
