FORMER Pembrokeshire Harrier and Sir Thomas Picton pupil David Omorgegie has agonisingly missed out on a semi-place in the 110 metre hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in London.

The 21-year-old was sixth in his heat in a time of 13.59 seconds, and admitted afterwards he never got into his rhythm after clattering a number of hurdles.

The heat was won by Jamaica’s Omar McLeod in 13.23 seconds.

“It was bit messy,” he said immediately afterwards.

“I’ve been training really well and my best sessions have come in the last three weeks, but that run wasn’t great overall.

“I’ve just got to hope I’ve done enough for tonight’s semi-final and then I will recover and get ready for that.”

But sadly, Omoregie’s time was not enough for him to go through as a fastest loser, as he just missed out by just three hundredth of a second.

However, the experience of a first ever World Championship will no doubt stand the youngster in good stead, and he will now set his sights on the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia.
