Pembrokeshire Harriers Annual Presentation:

Pembrokeshire Harriers recently held their annual presentation event at The Pavilion, Haverfordwest Airfield, and the full house of athletes, officials, coaches and families paid tribute to the outstanding success of the club during the 2016/17 season.

One of the undoubted highlights of the Sunday afternoon was a superb audio-visual presentation prepared by Huw Lloyd which included still pictures, video clips and music that helped capture the club's athletes' participation in a whole range of competitions that included the Louise Arthur League, the Gerald Codd Memorial event, cross country, Dyfed Championships, Welsh Championships and representative honours.

Special guests were Andrew Lloyd-Hughes (West Wales regional co-ordinator from Athletics Wales) and Bill Carne (Western Telegraph and PembrokeshireSport.co.uk) and every athlete received a memento to mark their efforts, which were presented by officials as club president Huw Morgan took on the MC's role with his typical mixture of style, good humour and charm.

He also announced the individual winners of the trophies for male and female athletes in every age group, some presented by Andrew Lloyd Hughes and others by the respective coaches from each section of the club.

Special presentation to James

There was also a special presentation to James Tomlinson from Bill Carne of the September 2017 'Star of the Month' award from PembrokeshireSport.co.uk, and the standing ovation afforded the international discus thrower was proof of the esteem in which he is held at the club where he started out before reaching his current rankings of second in Europe and fourth in the world.

James had earned the silver medal in the discus at the recent Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas and also received a glass trophy from the Harriers as a token of their appreciation.

Every athlete of all ages received a commemorative medal and the individual age group winners of the best male and female athlete were:

Maddie James, Rhys Lloyd-Roberts, Ella Wintle, Jamie Zygadlo,  Flavia Jenkins, Dylan Phillips, Thea Jenkins, Wiliam Lloyd, Abbie Buxton and David Evans.

There was also a special moment when the winner of the Sulian Award, presented annually by his mum Rachel in memory of the spirit and commitment he had shown prior to his passing away at the age of 12, and it was announced that this year's deserved recipient was Andrew Salmon.

The annual event was then rounded off with a huge number of prizes in the raffle and a splendid buffet especially enjoyed by the hungry young athletes of the club!
