Senior Cup Quarter Finals:

Carew 3-3 West Dragons (Carew won 5-4 on penalties)

ALEX Bayley was the toast of his Carew team-mates on Saturday night when his dramatic penalty in the dreaded shoot-out earned The Rooks victory and a coveted place in the last four at the expense of bitterly disappointed West Dragons.

The game finished 3-3 after 120 minutes, and was then settled on penalties in nigh on darkness at the Recreation Ground.

It was a cruel blow for The Dragons who had forced their way back into the tie after trailing 3-0 with barely 20 minutes on the clock.

Jack Christopher bagged a first minute goal, and eleven minutes later Scott Ferney added a second after latching onto Sam Christopher’s cross.

Then it was Sam Christopher himself who headed in the third to put his side in total control.

But Daryl Mansbridge pulled a goal back for the visitors, and then Ashley Prior headed home a second to bring the visitors right back into it at 3-2 at the break.

It stayed that way until 20 minutes from time when Jordan Williams levelled matters for The Dragons and forced the game into extra time.

But there were no further goals in extra time, before Bayley's spot kick sealed a 5-4 win for Carew on penalties.
