Year-on-year Pembrokeshire College students are achieving excellence in sport with increasing numbers representing Wales and the UK.

Sponsored by Valero, the College’s Sports Academy encourages students to pursue elite status regardless of their sporting discipline, meaning that all students are able to access the expertise of the College’s dedicated and experienced sport lecturers.

Earlier this week seven students were presented with their Welsh Caps by Valero representative, Stephen Thornton.

leucu George was presented with a cap for rugby, Hannah Pusey and Phoebe Hewitt-Fisher were presented with caps for hockey while Kurtis Marsh received a cap for cricket and Fraser Finlay for football. Two former students were also invited back to the College - Katie Thicker and Emily Pepler were presented with caps for rugby and hockey respectively.

Sports lecturer Kevin Hopkins said: “Pembrokeshire College has a great reputation for sport, especially on the national Welsh Colleges circuit.

"We’ve seen an increase in the calibre of our students over the years - natural talent, coupled with support and coaching, regardless of their sport, produces tremendous talent

“With the new sporting facilities in CAMPUS 6, and the refurbished strength and conditioning gym, I am looking forward to seeing even more sporting stars coming through.”
