Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League Division One:

Herbrandston 0
Carew 9

JORDAN Richards struck four times as Carew notched a fifth straight league win at Herbie.

The Rooks led early on when Herbie’s Mark Jones headed into his own net, but then had to withstand some heavy pressure from the home side, and Scott Reid won a penalty after being brought down by Haydn Shapcott.

Reid himself took the penalty but Tom Davies, bravely playing following the death of father Aled, brilliantly tipped his effort onto the post.

And then on the half hour mark it was Richards who fired a shot across Herbie keeper and manager Oliver West and into the bottom corner.

From then on The Rooks were rampant as Ian Darbyshire volleyed in a third, and Richards headed in a fourth before half time.

And the striker continued to cause chaos with two quick goals after the break, one a super long range finish.

But at 6-0 The Rooks kept pressing, and it was Scott Ferney who took full advantage of a tiring Herbie, grabbing a hat trick in the final 20 minutes, all neat finishes from inside the area.

The win lifts Carew to sixth, but with games in hand on five of the teams above them, ahead of a home game with Lamphey tonight.

But it's an even more pivotal night for Herbie, who welcome Angle. Their visitors failed to fulfil their match with Goodwick United on Saturday, meaning they face a likely three point deduction that would take them level with Oliver West's men on points, as the pair battle to avoid the drop.
