Division One: Johnston (118 all out) lost to Neyland (119 for 1) by 9 wickets

The inevitable relegation of Johnston was confirmed at Glebelands as they again won the toss and batted first – and battled to a three figure total before Neyland passed it comfortably.

A six wicket haul from Geraint Rees set up a routine win for the visitors, who were captained by Patrick Bellerby in the absence of Sean Hannon, but Johnston at least made a fight of it with the bat thanks to Hazif Faarooq.

After opener Steve James had made 11, Farooq came in at No 5 and followed up his half century against Haverfordwest the previous week with a hard hitting 70, including 13 fours.

And just like at The Racecourse, it was Emma Summons who offered support as the pair put on 56 for the eighth wicket, with Summons scoring just two of them as she let Faarooq take the strike.

But when that stand was broken the tail collapsed, and Geraint Rees finished with superb figures of 6 for 6 in just 4.1 overs, with other wickets for Andrew Miller (2 for 32), Jamie Smith (1 for 18), and Henry Durrant (1 for 4).

Neyland had few problems in their reply with Gregg Miller (35) the only wicket to fall as he was run out by Nathan James.

But fellow opener Ashley Sutton hit nine fours and four sixes on his way to 70 not out and he was joined by Andrew Miller (6 not out) in finishing the job off – although Sutton’s last maximum came with his side on 113, meaning Neyland missed out on a fourth batting bonus point.
