Micky Thomas Memorial Cup final:

Clarbeston Road 2-5 Carew

The Christopher brothers were on fire for Carew as The Rooks overcame hosts Clarbie to retain the Micky Thomas Memorial Cup last night.

Striker Sam had a hat trick, and Jack had two in what proved a decent night of work for Rob Scourfield and Jeremy Griffiths' side.

Carew had reached the final courtesy of a bye with Kilgetty unable to raise a side on Monday, while Clarbie had been taken to extra time before beating Johnston 4-2 on Tuesday.

And the visitors were certainly quickest out the blocks last night, with Jack Christopher having a big shout for a penalty turned down inside a minute, before seeing a free kick tipped over the bar by Clarbie keeper Lee Scott.

But after his younger brother Sam opened the scoring, the former Welsh League player struck twice to put his team 3-0 up at the break.

Sam added his second shortly after half time - but then Clarbie did threaten something of a comeback as Jason Griffiths and Sean Seymour-Davies pulled things back to 4-2.

But Sam completed his hat trick late on to seal a deserved win.

Afterwards, fundraising was held in The Cross pub, rounding off another good tribute to 'Sticky' - a popular former player and supporter at Clarbie.
