Pembroke County Cricket Club Under 13s Junior Final: Hook (127-3) beat Whitland (71-8) by 56 runs

Hook's youngsters turned in a top display to win the Under 13s final against Whitland.

The top two sides in Zones A and B, with Hook having tied one game in the group stage and Whitland being undefeated, met at Cresselly and it was Hook who batted first.

Their experienced opening bats of Lewis Miller (25 retired) and Lucas Davies (17) made good progress until the intervention of Harry Fuller, who captured the wicket of Davies with the aid of a catch by Jai Hogben.

A mix up in the running saw Hook Captain Seth Willington run out by a good throw by Hogben. However Harry Makepeace (28 retired) and Dylan James (18) continued the good work until James was bowled by  Hogben. Liam Miller (11 not out) and Josh Silk (3 not out) took the score to 127 after 20 overs.

This was always going to be a tough ask for a young Whitland team. Harry Fuller (25 retired) led the way with Jai Hogben (9), with Ethan Ryan and Cai Lewis batting well at the end for Whitland who ended on 71.

The Hook team all bowled well with Lucas Davies and Lewis Miller picking up the early wickets. Ollie Rees took two in the middle with Liam Miller also striking, abd the triplets of Bailey, Noah and Troy picked up a wicket each.

So Hook ran out winners against a Whitland team that never gave up trying and gave 100% on the night.

In the presentations Martin Jones (Junior League Organiser) thanked Cresselly for the use of their facilities, and their groundsman Richard Arthur.

He congratulated both teams for reaching the final and coaches Jon Willington and Mathew Davies for their work, as well as umpires Dennis Chiffi and John Williams, and scorers Paul Davies and Mathew Davies.

The Junior League sponsor Colin John, of Llewleyn Davies and Co Chartered Accountants, was also in attendance as was PCCC Chairman Paul Webb and wife Janice - who were all thanked for their support to the junior league.

The medals where presented by Coln  to both teams and the Shields to Captain of Hook, Seth Willington, and Hook skipper Harry Fuller.
