Plenty of crack shots at Mathry

The annual clay pigeon shoot was recently held at Mathry and again attracted 157 competitors with many newcomers.

Held at the usual site made available by Glyn and Mary Thomas, Church View, the highlight of the day was when the awards were announced at The Farmers Arms.

The awards was presented by the president, local businessman Tudor Owen and his wife, Delyth, and grateful thanks expressed to all supporters and generous sponsors.

Results were: High Gun (sponsor: County Sports) – 1, Paul Haywood; 2, Meredith Owen; 3, Lloyd Morris; Open (Tudor Owen) – 1, A James; 2, Simon Young; 3, Martin Harries; Novice (Tim Mason) - 1, Ricky Hughes; 2, Steve Richards; 3, Adam Sawyer; Local novice (Farmers Arms) – 1, Paul Davies; 2, Mervyn Morgan; 3, Tom Morris; Colt (Johnny Griffiths Memorial) – 1, James Richards; 2, Ryan Salmon; Ladies (Square and Compass Filling Station) – 1, Carol Francis; 2, Ally Morris; Veteran (Roger Lamb) – 1, Clive Lewins; 2, Tony Sweeney.
