Defending champions Dyfed-Powys lost their grip on the British Police championship, losing to the Metropolitan in the semi-final in a bowl out at Ammanford.
The visitors travelled to Ammanford, but rain prevented any play in the match so under the rules of the competition, the match was decided by the bowl out, a results method which is unpopular with cricketers and which is surprisingly difficult to achieve, as so few players hit the stumps!
In the bowl out five players were selected from each side. They each had to bowl at the stumps on two occasions, bowling alternately, as is the case in football penalty shootouts.
The score at the end was two to one in favour of the Mets and the first four bowlers missed the wickets completely!
Dyfed Powys has had a great run in the competition in recent seasons and will surely bounce back next year.
