Robinson’s brace earns the Bluebirds a victory

Haverfordwest County 4.

Herbrandston 2.

Bluebirds’ teenage striker Luke Robinson scored in each half to help his side to a thoroughly deserved win over Herbrandston.

The hosts got off to a dream start, scoring as early as the sixth minute. Defender Bobby Briers’ long throw-in into the box caused mayhem as Ben Phillips couldn’t get out the way and put the ball into his own net.

Four minutes later and the scoreline doubled. A clever swivel in the box, meant Robinson fired home from the tightest of angles.

Midway into the second period and Mike Preddy headed home a well-delivered Matthew Court cross from the right.

A minute later and the visitors were awarded a penalty by referee Darren Thomas, when Bluebirds’ central defender Dai Rees hauled down Josh Smart. Martin Langdon made no mistake with the resulting spot-kick.

But straight from the kick-off the flighty Bluebirds scored again. It stemmed from another good cross by substitute Court, leaving in-form Robinson with the simplest of headers.

The visitors pulled back a late consolation effort through Josh Smart.

The teenage striker firing exquisitely into the top right-hand corner of Andrew Mathias’ net.
