Cresselly (82 for 0) beat Haverfordwest (81 all out)
Cresselly strolled to the top of the table as Haverfordwest lost their unbeaten record, and with it top spot.
The home side held total control from the moment that skipper Simon Cole won the toss and elected to field first.
Richard James was first to go, soon followed by Danny Potter, Karl Rhead and Steve Phillips as The Town stumbled to 17 for 4 against Lyn Richards and Stefan Jenkins. Dai Davies (24) and Phil Kirkby (15) shared a stand of 29 runs to raise their hopes but it was all too premature, as Richard Harris and Ryan Lewis joined the bowling fray to decimate what was left of the visitors’ powerful batting line-up.
Kirkby was well caught by Phil Williams off the tormenting slow stuff from Lewis, Dai Davies followed 12 runs later as he edged a catch to keeper Neilson Cole off the ultra-accurate Richard Harris and, apart from double figures from skipper Huw Scriven, it was virtually the end of the Town’s resistance.
Harris claimed in 3 for 12 in 12 overs, five of them maidens, alongside Lewis (3 for 22), Jenkins (2 for 16) and Richards (2 for 29) – not bad going for an attack not generally regarded as the top in the section, against a batting line up thought to be one of the best!
Cresselly continued to dominate after tea as Phil Williams and Andrew Harris scored 50 in less than eight overs, to make sure that there was no dramatic come-back and they shared 16t boundaries whilst Harris belted one six in his top score of 41 not out. Williams was also there at the end with 37 not out as Cresselly reached their target in only 13.5 overs on a day to remember for Simon Cole’s team – and definitely a day to forget for Haverfordwest!
