Two-goal cup joy for deadly predator Adie

Milford United 0
Camrose 2
Deadly striker Adie Smith scored two first half goals to earn Camrose a quarter-final place at the expense of Milford United.

There were only three senior football games played on Saturday, the rest were casualties of the severe storms that struck the county at the weekend.

Marble Hall, despite heavy rain, played remarkably well.

The visitors got off to a flier as they opened the scoring in the fourth minute.

A pinpoint Stuart Grey cross into the box from the right, fell to Smith, who lashed the ball into the top corner.

Jimmy Harding's Robins fought hard to pull-back the deficit, but Jason Rickard, normally a goalkeeper playing up front failed to make the most of scoring opportunities presented to him.

Ten minutes before half time and Camrose extended the lead.

An excellent through ball by former Welsh Premier Haverfordwest County star Simon Gilderdale set pacy Smith on his way. The striker kept his composure to round goalkeeper Nathan Jones and tuck the ball into the empty net.

In the second half the home side dominated for long periods, but failed to make their scoring chances count.

The visitors were unlucky not to add a third. Simon Gilderdale’s neat chip came off the underside of the bar. The visitors claimed the ball had crossed the line, but referee Adrian Harries was unsighted and he didn’t give it. Not that it mattered as Camrose kept enough in the locker to run out worthy winners.
