Carys qualifies for British swim championships

A 12-year-old swimmer from Pembroke has qualified for the British national age group championships in the 200m freestyle.

Carys Thomas, a pupil at Ysgol y Preseli in Crymych, qualified with a time of 2:14.39 at the recent west Wales championships at Haverfordwest leisure centre.

She follows fellow swimmer Kelsey Williams, from Haverfordwest, who qualified for the championships last November.

A member of Pembroke and district swimming club, Carys was swimming by the age of four.

The British national age group championships will take place in Sheffield at the end of July.
