Bluebirds draw blank on travels

This disappointing goalless draw meant another point in the coffers but on an afternoon when the Bluebirds had very much hoped for three.

It was clear from the start that Porthmadog have by no means given up their hopes of a Super League placing, for the Bluebirds were given a tough game from the start.

Port may indeed have shaded the first half but Lee Idzi was never really troubled behind a defence in which Mark Dodds and Gareth Elliott were rarely wrong-footed.

The midfield was never quite able to get the grip on the game they’ve had in recent weeks and after Tom Ramasut had taken a slight knock early on he was never able to impose himself as he has in a few recent games.

There was rare start up front for the pairing of Jack Christopher and Steffan Williams, but although they looked sharp together they were never quite sharp enough to break the deadlock.

The nearest the visitors came to a goal in the first half came when Lee Hudgell went on a run into the penalty area and the ball just ran away from him.

The second half had a similar look to it. Both Chris O’Sullivan and Hudgell had their moments, as did the strikers, but there the really incisive break was missing. The nearest the Blues came to a goal in this half was when the Port keeper saved very well at Ross Jones’ feet as the Blues midfielder went on a surge through the middle.

The Blues have two crucial home games this week, tonight (Wednesday) against Prestatyn Town, kick-off 7.30pm, and on Sunday, March 14th, against Bala Town, kick-off, 2.30pm.

Haverfordwest County: Lee Idzi, Terry Evans, Mark Dodds, Kyle Graves, Gareth Elliott, Ross Jones, Chris O’Sullivan, Tom Ramasut (Josh Hartrick 67’), Steff Williams (Tom Billing 59’), Jack Christopher, Lee Hudgell.

Subs not used: Jamie Grimes, Jamie Bradford.
