Robins steal late win

Hakin United 1

Pennar Robins grabbed two late dramatic goals to steal victory at Bush Camp over reigning league champs Hakin United.

Just when it looked like the visitors were heading back over the Cleddau Bridge with three points they ended up with nothing.

The Vikings led one-nil thanks to a first-half own goal by Robins keeper Stuart James, who embarrassingly fumbled a shot-cum-cross by Ashley Bevan over his own goal line.

But five minutes from the end the home side finally woke up and scored an equaliser when keeper Stuart’s twin brother Steve James struck a sublime free kick.

Then with virtually the last play of the match striker Wayne Brunton raced clear to calmly place the winner past the Vikings’ Adrian Devonald.

This win will definitely boost Pennar Robins’ confidence as they prepare to defeat Goodwick United in tomorrow’s (Thursday) Senior Cup semi-final clash at the Bridge Meadow. Kick-off 7pm.

The Robins last won the cup two years ago, and managerial duo Chris Lloyd and Gavin Southcott are determined for a repeat performance this season.
