The success of disability sport in Pembrokeshire helped mark a special anniversary recently.

A decade ago, dedicated disability sport officers were placed in each of the 22 local authorities in Wales.

So on Wednesday, August 11th, representatives from Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion gathered at the Margam Park Orangery in Port Talbot to mark ten years of community disability sport in South West Wales.

During 2009, there were 12,000 opportunities for people in disability sport in Pembrokeshire.

Councillor Rob Lewis, cabinet member for cultural services, sports, leisure and tourism said: “We are delighted that so many more people with disabilities in Pembrokeshire now have the chance to participate in sport.”
