Centurian Danny caines Lawrenny

Saundersfoot (243 for 4) beat Lawrenny (242 for 7) A superb innings of 128 not out by talented all-rounder Danny Caine helped Saundersfoot gain a victory over basement club Lawrenny in a run fest at the seaside ground.

Lawrenny started things off with a mammoth score of 242 for 7 that owed a great deal to a fine innings by Steve Lewis, who lashed five sixes and 12 fours en route to his score of 98 before he was run out just short of what would have been a deserved three-figure score.

Brad Jenkins (31), Hugh Griffiths (29), Adi Harries (28) and James Buckle (29 not out) supplied the necessary support for Lewis.

Dickie Parcell only conceded 1 for 23 in his 12 overs alongside James Caine (1 for 36), Danny Caine (1 for 73) and Sam Butler (1 for 50).

It looked a huge score to chase down but Saundersfoot had 29 apiece from veteran batsman Paul Mansbridge and Yannick Parker, plus other little cameos by Ian Poole (18) and James Caine (16). Such was the influence exerted by Danny Caine, however that the Seasiders gained a deserved victory with plenty of overs and wickets in hand.

Umpires: Tony Scourfield and Allan Hansen.

Scorers: Hazel Poole and Malcolm Thomas.
