On coarse for prizes

New prizes have been announced for Pembrokeshire Fish Week’s popular annual coarse fishing championship next month.

The FBM Holidays championship will be held at Llyn Carfan Coarse Fishery, Tavernspite - and there will be plenty to compete for.

The first lake at the fishery was built and stocked in 1984, and the second built in 1993, giving a total surface area of three acres.

The current records for fish caught at the venue is a common carp weighting 31 pounds, and a grass carp weighing 29 pounds.

First prize is a holiday for four people in a four star self catering property in Tenby.

Second prize is £150 in cash.

Third prize is a season ticket for Llyn Carfan Coarse Fishery, and fourth prize is a £20 tackle voucher, courtesy of Mainwaring Tackle Centre, Swansea.

The championship will include four qualifying heats to be held on Saturday 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd June.

The first four from each heat will go through to the grand championship final on Saturday, June 30th. There will be six hours of fishing in both the heats and the final, and match rules will apply.

Entry has been set at £10 per person.

To enter, contact Huw at Llyn Carfan on 1994 240819, or e-mail llyncarfan@aol.com.

Pembrokeshire Fish Week 2012 takes place between Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, July 1st.
