Inspirational Dunfee bowls Llangwm over

2:40pm Thursday 14th June 2012

Llangwm (107 all out) beat Whitland (137 all out)

An inspired spell of fast bowling by talented all-rounder David Dunfee helped Whitland gain a 30-run victory over Llangwm at Pill Parks.

Dunfee grabbed 9 for 17 in his 12 fiery overs and although Will Beresford carried his bat for 41 not out and Llangwm skipper Jonathan Twigg compiled a patient 29, the homesters were unable to recover from the shock of being reduced to 17 for 5 at one stage Whitland had also found it hard to score runs against a tight Llangwm attack in which Chris Inward (2 for 14), and Alistair Platten (2 for 41) gave support to Ollie Davies, who returned his best first-team figures of 5 for 30 as Luke Brock also caught the eye with four very good catches.

Owain Evans (37), Matthew Davies (25) Jonathan Thomas (22) and David Dunfee (15) all batted well for Whitland but no-one was able to stay long enough to set a really big score.

But 138 for victory suddenly assumed mountainous proportions and Dunfee really caught the eye as he was well backed up in the field by the rest of the Whitland team.
