Harriers celebrate historic weekend with 29 medals

Pembrokeshire Harriers took part in the Welsh Championships in Cardiff on the jubilee weekend and were able to celebrate outstanding success.
The team collected 15 gold, six silver and eight bronze medals in what coach Nigel Rowland described as their “best championships ever”.
Overall, 27 athletes travelled from Pembrokeshire and the Harriers competed over nine different age groups.
Highlights included Heather Lewis breaking the Senior Women 3K Walk (championship) record and Sarah Omeregie matching her feat in the under 13 girls’ high jump.
“Our results were testament to all the hard work the athletes and coaches have put in,” said Rowland.
“We are growing stronger as a club.”
Rowland also joked: “The announcer kept commenting about the number of times Pembrokeshire athletes were on the podium.
“Also, a big thank you to him for getting our club name right.”
The following athletes won medals: Under-13 girls: Esme Green, 70 metre hurdles (gold), long jump (bronze); Sarah Omoregie, high jump (gold), shot putt (gold), 100m (gold); Amy Rothero, javelin (bronze); Caitlin Sparey, discus (bronze); Lydia Thomas, 70m hurdles (bronze).
Under-13 boys: Ben Evans, shot putt (bronze); Morgan Richards, shot putt (silver).
Under-15 girls: Jessica Bradley, 1500m (silver), 800m (bronze); Abi Buxton, high jump (silver).
Under-15 boys: Jake Evans, shot putt (gold), javelin (silver); Daniel Omoregie, long jump (gold), 100m (bronze), 200m (bronze).
Under-17 women: Rhian Homer, 1.5k steeplechase (gold); Amy Leahy, 80m hurdles (gold).
Under-20 women: Heather Lewis, 3k run (gold); Helena Madan, high jump (gold), hammer (silver).
Senior women: Vicky Lloyd, shot putt (gold); Tracey Llewellin, discus (silver).
Masters women: Karen Llewellin, shot putt (gold), hammer (gold), discus (gold), javelin (gold).
Other squad members who performed admirably were: Morgan Sparey, Milley Lacey, Naomi Pritchard, Alice Stretch, Ollie Butterworth, Finnlay Thompson, Lois Thompson, Caitlin Thompson, Laim Bradley, Daniel Salmon.
