Carew (95 for 2) beat Whitland (94 all out)
A splendid haul of 5 for 17 by Matthew ‘Hammer’ Phillips helped Carew maintain top spot in the table as they shot out visitors Whitland for 94 runs and strolled to victory by eight wickets.
Phillips broke the back of Whitland’s innings and found support from Rhys Davies (3 for 22) alongside Scott Helmich (1 for 25) and Tom Davies (1 for 23) so that only Dylan Blain (16), Paul Davies (18) and especially Jonathan Thomas (32) ever looked anything like settled at the crease.
Nick Scourfield (14) and Gareth Lewis (whose 42 included six fours before he was caught by David Dunfee off Dan James), gave Carew the solid start they needed and then Tim Hicks (24 not out) and Adam Chandler (10 not out) saw Carew ease home with plenty to spare as James (1 for 23) and Mark Lee (1 for 23) were the only Whitland wicket-takers.
Umpires: Alan Hansen and Dave Loosmore.
Scorers: Ceri Davies and Janice Brick.
