Liam loves his Sport

Young Ambassador Liam Lewis. Young Ambassador Liam Lewis.

Liam Lewis attends Tasker Milward School and is delighted to be a Young Ambassador.

He helps others enjoy leisure activities at lunch time and after school as part of the 5x60 scheme run by Sport Pembrokeshire - and is also promoting the Olympic Games and the ideal of taking part.

Liam is a useful all-round sportsman whose favourite sport is football but he practices what he preaches because he has also taken part in skiing, tennis and golf, as well as other sports.

He plays football as a goalkeeper for Camrose under 16s, coached by Damian Haworth, and was part of the team which reached the final for their age group, played at the Conygar Bridge Meadow against Milford United.

Sadly, they lost 6-2 and Liam had to admit that he conceded a penalty that resulted in one of the goals - but he says it with rancour as part of his philosophy about taking part.

He also came runner-up in the junior doubles, along with Sam Chalmers, in the county tennis championships, and admits to being a bit of a 'hacker' at Haverfordwest Golf Club, but is beginning to cut down the number of loose shots he plays.

He likes taking part in any sport: "As long as it doesn't involve water or heights," he jokes.

Liam puts his participation into practice in his work as a Young Ambassador with Natalie Jones, the 5x60 Officer at Tasker Milward School, going into assemblies to chat to younger age groups about the Olympic Games and the ideal of everyone taking part in leisure activities that the school offers under the 5x60 scheme.

He encourages those who say they hate sport to try out some of the activities, which range from street dance to basketball.

There's no doubt that Liam loves his sporting involvement and Tasker Milward School is well served by this pleasant young man.
