Champions win again
1:20pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in Sport
St Ishmaels 1
Merlins Bridge 2
St Ishmaels slipped to their fourth successive defeat at the hands of the champions Merlins Bridge.
Last season’s division two champions have had a difficult start, but their last two results show encouraging signs to manager Robbie Thomas’ Tish troops, narrowly losing 2-1 at Narberth and the same score at home this week to the Wizards.
After a goalless first period it was the visitors who broke the deadlock when Matthew D’Ivry scored from inside the box.
Veteran Marcus Taylor doubled the visitors’ lead before Gareth Fawcett pulled a goal back for Tish with a powerful header.
But like all good sides the Wizards stayed firm to seal three more precious points and are the only team in division one with an impressive 100% winning record.
