Whitland ladies win again

Kidwelly 5

Whitland 64

Another fine display of running rugby from the Borderettes resulted in a comfortable win against Kidwelly.

The Borderettes showed their intent from the start when quick ruck ball was spread wide for debutant winger Helen Price to sprint away and score.

A second followed almost from the kick off when Price was again put away down the right flank. She was well supported by flanker Angharad Williams, who cantered over.

Then centre Nat Walsh, took a quick penalty on the half way line and powered through a couple of tacklers to score under the posts.

Kidwelly then attacked but were kept out by some super defence from outside half Alice James, flanker Lowri Morgan and centre Elin Hywel.

They eventually fumbled the ball and a kick down field by full back Catherine Davies was well followed up by the Whitland attackers, resulting in a penalty which was again taken quickly by Walsh who scored.

Kidwelly then struck back when second row Charlotte Hunter dived over.

The next score was the try of the game as the Whitland forwards made some powerful drives into the Kidwelly defence before the ball was moved quickly along the back line for Walsh to draw the final defender and put Price away for her second try.

The second half was a similar affair, as all the Whitland bench was brought on which meant a welcome return for Welsh International Vicky Owen.

Price was put away for three more tries before Walsh side-stepped her way through the midfield to touch down under the posts for her hat trick. Then scrum half Emma Summons pounced on a loose ball to hack ahead and outstrip the cover defence to touch down.

Seven of the tries were converted by Cath Davies.

However, the in-form Hannah Richards sustained a nasty ankle injury and was forced off.
