Saundersfoot Sports 5
Merlins Bridge 1
Saudersfoot Sports caused a massive upset by comfortably despatching of stunned champions Merlins Bridge.
This result sees the Wizards slip down to second as Hakin reclaim top spot by winning at Tenby and Sports are in the title hunt in third.
Saundersfoot should have taken the lead on 20 minutes when awarded a penalty as Wizards’ defender handed the ball.
Danny Cope blasted his effort from 12 yards that was brilliantly saved by Gary Thomas.
However, on 30 minutes the Sports were not denied as Dan Storer’s shot took a deflection that beat Thomas and gave the Sports a onegoal cushion at half time.
Dan Cope made amends for his earlier penalty miss by drilling home his side’s second goal.
Nick Cope and Geoff Marsh added the third and fourth goals respectively to leave the champions reeling. Peter Thomas pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, before Sports’ player/manager Sam Coleman toe-poked in a fifth. Marcus Taylor grabbed a late consolation effort for the Wizards who were well beaten and had no complaints at the final whistle.
