Pembrokeshire clubs worthy of recognition
12:00pm Saturday 6th October 2012 in Sport
Four Pembrokeshire sports clubs have been recognised by Disability Sport Wales.
Cleddau Warriors football club, Crymych Panthers boccia club, Pembrokeshire Special Needs gymnastics club and the Modern Print Inclusive target shooting club have been awarded the organisation’s Insport Club ribbon award.
Insport is a Disability Sport Wales (DSW) programme, which aims to support sport national governing bodies and provide inclusive, quality sessions for disabled people within their communities.
Angela Miles, disability sport development officer for Sport Pembrokeshire, said she was delighted.
“The insport programmes aim to support clubs and sports organisations develop inclusive provision, opportunity and practices which will ensure that disabled people gain access to the level of participation and performance they require,” she said.
Angela is also working with Pembrokeshire Puffins, Pembrokeshire disabled bowlers, Fishguard Flyers and Pembrokeshire Harriers and hopes that these clubs will soon also gain Insport Club awards.
If any club would like to go through the programme or would like assistance on aiding disabled members, please contact Angela on 01437 776379 or 07920 213651.
