Haverfordwest golf club member Becky Harries has just completed a very successful season both at international and national level.
Becky, who plays off a handicap of three, represented Wales in the European Individual Championships in Slovenia where she was the only Welsh lady to make the cut.
She recently played in the Home Internationals in Cork where the Welsh team finished in second place, half a point behind the winners England. She also recently returned from the World Cup Championships in Turkey, where she finished in 33rd position out of 157; the other Welsh girls finished in 66th and 94th respectively. She beat the Welsh No 1 Amy Boulden by 61 places. Her highlight this year was being selected as reserve for the GB and Ireland side that beat the USA in the Curtis Cup.
At national level she has won a number of tournaments throughout the UK, including The Welsh Open at Ashburnham finishing with a score of 69, three in front of second place Chloe Williams.
She also won the Tenby Scratch where she led a battle against Amy Boulden. Both girls shot four under par after the first round, Becky pulled away in the second round to finish nine under.
Other competitions she won included the Frilford Heath Ladies Oxford where she also broke the course record, The Bridget Jackson, Handsworth and the West Wales Ladies.
She also came close in both the Pleasington Putter Blackburn, where she finished in second place after losing out in a play off and also lost by one shot in The Astor Salver Berkshire.
Becky has also competed in the Spanish Open (sixth), the British Open (17th, the Scottish Open (11th) and the English Open (ninth).
She missed qualifying for The Ricoh Ladies British Open by one shot at Caldy Golf Club, Liverpool. The competition was very hard and included amateur and professional players from all over the world.
Becky said she wanted to thank her coach, Rhys Harry, for all his hard work during the year.
She also expressed thanks to everyone who helped her throughout the season, especially Haverfordwest Golf Club and Mainport.
