Senior Cup holders Hakin United scored two second-half goals to overcome spirited division three outfit Fishguard Sports at the Obs.
Gary Dawes’ Vikings possibly came into this cup-tie with the attitude that they only had to turn up and the cup-tie was in the bag.
But the Sports put in a spirited display and made the cup holders work extremely hard for their expected victory where they will face close neighbours Milford Athletic at home in the second round.
After a goalless first period the hosts finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute from a well-executed set piece. Ashley Bevan struck a wicked curling direct-free kick that flew in the top corner.
Ten minutes before the final whistle and the Vikings were awarded a penalty that Steven Allen clinically despatched to secure victory.
